Governance

The Brisbane German Club is led by a board of nine directors who are elected by the Club members.

The current board members elected in September 2023 are:

The Club’s Constitution sets the Club’s Objects as following:

1: To encourage German literature, music, singing, dancing, and sport, and to form a centre for the congregations of Germans in Brisbane, where they will be able to promote the German language and customs as well as foster the friendly relations with their fellow citizens; and

2: To offer the members all the advantages of an Association, and by arranging entertainment to promote the social relations among members.

The Strategic Plan for 2022-2024 implemented by the board in June 2022 sets the following Vision statement and strategic goals

Vision Statement:

The Club will fulfill its objectives through excellence and Gemuetlichkeit in a socially inclusive setting by showcasing authentic German food, beverage, entertainment, and cultural interaction.

Strategic Goals:

1: To deliver effective leadership, administration, and planning to position the Club for long-term success and ongoing regulatory compliance.

2: To implement a financially responsible capital expenditure program that enhances the Club’s delivery of authentic food, beverage, entertainment, and cultural experiences

3: To develop and deliver recruitment, management and succession planning that allows the Club to be known as an employer of choice.

4: To ensure sustainability though ongoing investment in governance, people, planning, and Club facilities.

5: To deliver consistent, unique, and targeted messaging which promotes the Club as a provider of authentic cultural experiences and inclusive hospitality.
