We are delighted to introduce Brisbane German Families, a new family-focused
undergroup of the Brisbane German Club dedicated to bringing together German
families and those with German heritage from across Brisbane.
As parents raising bilingual children ourselves, we understand how valuable it is for
children to hear, use and enjoy the German language to stay connected with
German culture, traditions and family. Therefore Brisbane German Families was
created to provide opportunities for families to connect through language, culture
and friendship.
Each month, we host a family meet-up featuring German songs, crafts, and stories.
We also look forward to celebrating German seasonal traditions and cultural events
throughout the year, helping children build meaningful connections to their
language and heritage while having fun with other families.
One exciting initiative currently underway is the development of a small German
Children’s Library, which will provide members of the undergroup with access to
German children books to support language learning and encourage reading at
home.
Whether your family has German roots, speaks German at home, is new to Brisbane,
or is simply looking to connect with other German families, we warmly welcome you
to join us.
As we continue to grow, we would greatly appreciate the support of Brisbane
German Club members in helping spread the word. If you know a family who may be
interested, please share our details and encourage them to come along to a meet
up.
Membership is $50 per year per family unit, with at least one adult family member
required to be a full Brisbane German Club member (or on the pathway to full
membership through a 12-month social membership). This helps cover costs for
events, craft materials, activity resources, as well as access to the small German
children’s library. Families are welcome to attend an event before deciding whether
to join.
